May is Mental Health Awareness Month!
What is mental health awareness month?
Mental Health Awareness Month is observed May 1st - May, 31st. Mental Health Awareness Month seeks to increase awareness of the importance mental health, emotional wellbeing and reduce stigma. Mental Health Awareness Month is a great time to focus on your mental health.
How can I prioritize my mental health?
1. Set an intention. It may be helpful to make an intentional effort to stop, slow down and check in on how you're really doing. Are you able to be fully present in your day to day or are you getting by on autopilot? Prioritizing your mental health may require intentional effort especially while trying to keep up with the daily demands.
2. Seek out Community. During this month, you may find local groups, agencies and organizations putting together awareness events or activities to bring attention to mental health and available resources. Seek out community, explore local resources and reach out to other people in your life that provide a sense of community for you.
3. Seek support. Sometimes the demand of life can overwhelm our coping abilities. If you can relate, you're not alone and there are things that can help. Reach out to a local professional if needed.
